I was offered the opportunity in fall semester 2007 to be a part of Virginia Tech's European Travel Studio, a semester-long tour of the architectural riches of the European Union. The goal of the the studio was to witness, document, experience both the modern and classical examples of design in European architecture. The trip's enormous scope spanned 9 countries and 28 cities including London, Berlin, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Venice, Florence, Rome, Siena, Verona, Basel, and Paris. These sketches and analytical field drawings were made on site at various locales during the trip, and were exhibited in the subsequent student-led exhibition "EU:EX", at the XYZ Gallery in Blacksburg, Virginia.
