This ongoing documentation of Virginia is an exploration of my origin. As a traveler and in residence I began to appreciate the state's regional duality of rural abandonment and urban sprawl. The historical richness of the mid-Atlantic landscape and built environment has now become a familiar constant to which I compare more foreign concepts of aesthetics and place, and these local conditions have heavily influenced my ideas on the evolution of the American town.
